Fire Prevention and Safety

The Northlake Fire Department helps members of our community protect themselves and their property by educating them on ways to prevent fire and other safety hazards. We share information through presentations at schools, businesses, retirement homes, assisted living centers and community events.

Children and the elderly are the most vulnerable to fire and other safety emergencies, so we focus many of our prevention programs on those age groups. Northlake firefighters spend time in the local elementary schools teaching students about smoke detectors, fire escape plans, and other important safety lessons. They also go to assisted living centers, retirement homes, community gatherings, and Safety Days sponsored by local merchants to provide important safety messages.

In October on even years (2020, 2022, etc), during National Fire Prevention Week, we invite the public to an Open House. You can meet the firefighters, tour a station, get an up-close look at the apparatus, pick up safety information, and learn more about what our agency does.
